Today's patch and Windows 7.

I've posted about this in the Patch forum, to no avail, so I thought I'd post here in hopes that someone had some information. I'm running Windows X64 Ultimate, up to last night everything worked fine with Warhammer. Unfortunately after this morning's patch I can no longer get into the game. I can get to the character select, but when I pick a character the game crashes at the point where it would normally switch to the book graphic load screen. I've tried doing a full file check, a checkdisk, and various compatbility modes, all to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to fix this, I'd appreciate it. It'd also be helpful if anyone who's also running Win7 X64 and isn't having problems posted so I could know if it's just my system or a general Win7 incompatability caused by this morning's patch.

dear fine sir, one of my suggestions is to run warhammer in compatibility mode, and if that fails ask friends or around the workplace or such for anybody that might have a windows XP disk that you could borrow, no you won't have to totally reinstall WAR or windows 7. if you do happen to get a disk, you have dual boot so that on start up you can pick either, windows XP or windows 7.

Not a 'sir', fine or otherwise... That aside, the problem turned out to be a mod that was crashing the game at initialization. Took me two days to diagnose because frankly it never even occurred to me that a mod could cause such a problem, as with an unnamed pervious game I've played that allowed ui mods that wasn't possible. Sadly, with Warhammer it apparently is pretty easy to do.

Could you please name the mod that caused the issue. That way others can benefit from your fault finding skils and so that mod authors can debug the code, track down the issue and post warnings and alarm bells around the issue.

The mod that crashed things was a common mod that contained a minor change I had made to, I thought, get it to work well with another commonly available mod. All of which would have screamed "first thing to check" after the post-patch crash, but, as I said, it didn't occur to me that a mod could cause the client to crash like that. I'd really rather not give details beyond that publically, it just seems unlikely anyone else will run into the same problem and far too likely someone might decide to use such details to cause problems.
