Posted by The Herald
To celebrate the culmination of CALL TO ARMS, the first live expansion for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Mythic Entertainment is hosting a community event like no other.

Beginning in late-June, WAR players will be able to venture into the ancient desert kingdom of the Tomb Kings to explore THE LAND OF THE DEAD. This massive new zone is free to all players, and introduces a wealth of new challenges for characters rank 25 and above, including a massive deadly, trap-laden dungeon.

To mark the occasion, Mythic is giving away exclusive in-game items through an online puzzle of epic proportions.

If you want to claim your free Scarab Amulet, put your decoding hat on, because the Rise of the Tomb Kings blog challenge is coming!

Read the Full Article @ The Herald

We've provided a helpful FAQ for the Blog Challenge below, enjoy!

What stats does the Scarab Amulet have?

The Scarab Amulet doesn’t have any stats. It’s a fun item that summons a swarm of beetles to scurry around your character.

Which Blogs are you sending the hieroglyphic clues to?

We can’t tell you that! Searching for the clues is half the fun!

Can you send a Tomb Kings package to my blog?

Sorry, we’ve already selected who we are sending these to. If you’d like your blog to be involved in future challenges, contact our Community Team at war-community@ea.com with your name, URL, and postal address. We can’t promise you’ll receive something, but your name will be in the hat.

What if I don’t play on the North American servers, don’t I have a Tomb Kings blog puzzle to solve?

If you are playing on North American servers, you are all set. Just translate a cartouche and be one of the first 5,000 to enter the revealed code in the Account Center. Europe has its own Tomb Kings challenge. Simply visit www.war-europe.com for more details. We are sorry we could not roll this program out to the Russian servers at this time, but translation and localization issues held us back from making this program as slick and cool as we would like. We decided it was better to not do anything at all rather than do something badly. We’re very sorry you’ve missed out, and we’ll try to make sure you get a shot at the action next time around.

What’s to stop me just posting the code solution on a forum somewhere? Or just waiting for someone else to do all the work for me?

Nothing is stopping you from posting spoilers, if you like that sort of thing! Hopefully you’ll work with other players to solve the code together. Or you might decide to keep your solution to yourself. Or maybe you’ll post it after you’ve claimed your Scarab Amulet. This challenge is owned by the community, so it’s up to all of you how go about solving it.

Waiting for someone else to solve the code is easy but risky. You’ve no way of telling if their solution is correct, a hoax, or even partially wrong!  There’s also a chance that other people will swoop in and claim all the items before you. Again, your approach to this challenge is entirely up to you.

I’ve entered the code into my account. Where is my item?

Visit an in-game mailbox to claim your item. It will be sent to you in-game once you successfully enter your code.

This post says 5,000, herald says 1,000.  Which is it? :smileyhappy:

There are five different cartouches, each of which will give out 1,000 Scarab Amulets, so 5,000 in all.

I was assuming that each cartouche's code could only be used 1,000 times.  I guess I fail :smileytongue:

Mine will be empty, unless Mythic has super ninja powers of figuring out my address. Like say, cross referencing my character with my account, and pulling my address from there. That'd be a heckova lota work though. So, I sent them an email, letting them know that I should most definitely be included in future challenges, for the good of the people of course. Not in any means an attempt to hoarde more Warhammer swag to place next to my army of Daemonhunters and Tyranids. No, not at all...

Technically shadow war, they can do a whois on your website and as long as you registered your site in your name and submitted your address and info to your site host, they can pull that up and send it to you that way.

I was wondering how these bloggers were picked.  I didn't realize they  had all at one time or another submitted their site and information to Mythic.

Yep, that one's fairly easy now that so many letters have been revealed, and it has two repeats to reduce possible combinations drastically.

Yeah got the item on my main.

For a pocket item that gives no buff, just a 10s effect, why does it have a 60m timer?

I mean really, that's extremely harsh for just a normal item that has no other ability than to have some beetles crawling on you, 60 minutes, jeez.

Hmm, can we get a Mythic yes/no on whether you can still solve the cartouches (ie: enter codes to test whether they're valid or not) once you've actually completed and activated one?  I'd like to attempt to solve the others but either I've confused myself after solving one or the system gives me an "invalid code" prompt for everything now.

The theory on WHA is that the second and third cartouches may have problems. Some people have tried every letter combination on the second one. The third one only has 9 characters, and if you've solved the first one then you have all of the translations, but it doesn't work in the account management page.

So there are only two possibilities now -- either the second and third cartouches themselves are incorrect or the account management page will always show the codes as invalid if you've already entered the first one.

Bio got the next letters

I got mine, so I'll post what I can for the 2nd name:

XEM_N_OBEK

1 symbol looks like a letter, the other kinda looks like an exclamation point. Not many people on my server are doing this or even care, so that's why I just posted the damn thing.

The other is DJH_ D _ UMN _

Yes its a djh....egyptians had some odd spelling ideas.

The DJH one has been used 1000 times already, and from all accounts the other 2 cartouches that have shown up aren't worknig.

Can anyone from Mythic confirm they are working? I have guild mates who were too slow to cash in the first code.

The reason for this is simple, everyone who solved the first, entered the 2nd and third as well. So if the system wasn't set up to handle duplicates, then those codes are null. Or, people were just too slow on figuring things out quick enough.

Really the item itself was not worth it. A scarab with a 60 minute cooldown for a 10s graphical effect. No other buff. Ridiculous. 60m. I'll go back to my Fear in a Bottle.

Actually no, a guildie has been trying the permutations for the unknowns on an account that didn't unlock the first (missed it by minutes).  So the big issue is not related to accounts that already have a code activated.

Alright folks, so here's the scoop! There are still a lot of available Scarab Amulets to be claimed. Only one of the cartouche codes has been completely used up thus far. We did run into a problem with one of the codes that has now been fixed, so if you had a code that was giving you an error, please try it again!

Also, please note that once you enter in a code and successfully claim a Scarab Amulet, you cannot enter another code. (You'll get an error message that says "You do not have any Game Accounts that can use the Scarab Amulet!" if you try.)

LOL. I'm sure a lot did try

So right now we have:

DJHADTUMNA - Used up

X.....yada yada - Still good

L.....yada yada - Also Still good

Nothing yet from Gamespy or Tentonhammer
